I have a '31 Phaeton that came from Argentina via Dr. Bruno Kaplan who advertised several RHD cars for sale in Hemmings. That was twenty or more years ago. This car's water pump is different, a completely enclosed casting. The bottom piston rings are located under the wrist pins. I don't know if these are original or replacement parts. Some other parts different and are clearly identified as made in Argentina.

This Phaeton body is in fair condition, now converted to LHD and now temporarily sitting on a spare '31 frame. the original chassis is worn out, a mix of strange parts and modified beyond any possibility of repair.

If you have old Chevrolets, other old Chevrolets will find out where you live.

Sounds like the chassis I pulled out from underneath my 343-35 std roadster, where the car came from argentina.

I have no idea what back then their roads were like because that chassis/frame has at least 5 welded cracks in the side rails and the main cross member up front.

Its almost like they were going off road racing with them.

I will speculate that the engine block was either cast at Flint or supplied to Flint Plant and from there was allocated to Canada as an export for eventual shipment to India. Without really having facts that would be my best guess.
