Using the 1929-1935 Chevrolet parts book.
I have identified a part number for the wooden roof slats on a sedan, as they do not list the Canopy Express roof slats. The part number for a slat is 342853 1929-1932, Jobs 8900,30570,31570. The catalog shows a drawing with the number without any other details.
I am asking the question - is there an online resource to do more in depth research with regard to the manufacture of the parts. Example a vendor receipt (from factory accounting records)for wood (wood type and dimensions)roof slats that would include a more detailed description? or perhaps fabrication drawings submitted by the Wooden Body Contract Company that was purchased by Chevrolet in 1931?

I am also trying to determine the correct Vinyl Topping- Long Grain or Short Grain. Also the specific Hidem-Binding for the period.

Thanks in advance.

Based on research I have done the materials will be different based on regions/ locations and availability. and throw in body manufacturer. who is the manufacturer of the body on your Canopy ??

look in the foot well, and around the floor boards for stampings. assuming the cowl forward is Chevrolet/ fisher. the rest was Whomever. i.e. hercules, and a few others.

If you are looking for a parts book for your 1931 Chevrolet, you are better off purchasing the 1929-32 Chevrolet parts book since it will be more accurate for your 1931. You can purchase a reprint of the 1929-32 Chevrolet parts book from the Filling Station. www.fillingstation.com

You might want to go to their web site and check it out. Also, they have a hard copy of their 385 page catalog as well.
