I have a custom '51 Chevy. The Fisher body plate has a color code of 462. I can't find this number any where in any of the paint codes for any early 50's Chevys. Anyone know if there were special codes, i.e. military, police, fire?

Two 1951 colors were reforumlated during the production year. They were Aspen Green (medium light green) and Shadow gray. That required new paint numbers.
Is your car one of these colors? Applies to two tone combinations also.

I believe 462 is a Canadian code for Aldershot Gray - the original colour of Brewster's '51 that he is restoring and documenting in another thread here. Brewster will correct me if I am wrong.

Don't know my car's original color it was taken down to bare metal and painted a new deep metallic red. Don't know if I'd ever repaint it, but if I do it would probably go back to original. Maybe Brewster can confirm?

Aldershot Gray is paint # 162..Canada used different number series.
462 (Aspen Green) replaced #448.

Lol... You're wrong Dad! Gene wins again! In your defence... you did recall the "62" part of the number.
