I am restoring a 1934 master sedan and I am wondering what route you guys go when it gets to the chrome parts. Grill, door handles, hinges, headlight buckets, etc. Do you try to buy new, some hard to find and very expensive. Do you have them rechromed by a reputable shop, also very expensive. Has anyone had parts rechromed using the Cosmichrome method? Looks to be very interesting. Does anyone have any experience with this?

door hinges are not plated. tail light mounting arms are not plated. depending on condition of the grill mesh insert, probably makes more sense to buy a stainless steel reproduction. Plating on these using copper to fill surface problems to start, can mean many times dipping in copper tank and buffing surface smooth before nickel and chrome. Its the face of the car and its important to have that part done correctly and the trim ring. Plating can really add up quickly $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ . Because the 1934 master DA outsold the standard series in 34 by a ratio of almost 7--1, you got a better shot at finding the parts you need. mike lynch

Around southern Ontario there are only a few chrome plater's left that do quality work. I HAVE A BUSINESS CARD FROM ANOTHER PLATER BUT HAVE NEVER USED THEM AND CANNOT FIND THE CARD WITH NAME. chuck kotowick at MAYFAIR PLATING in Toronto ( Carlaw and eastern ave in the east end ) does good work and you can even stop in next door to the Hells Angels clubhouse that sells t shirts and ????? One that I've used for a long time is called Electroplating of El Paso. Very good work and are very reasonable in price. Also turn-around is very good.

jonjet........here is our problem shipping and getting back parts we would send south. Currently the $$$$ spread is it costs $130 Canadian to buy $100 USA dollars . When the parts are shipped back here to us, we have to pay shipping in USA $, then the $1000 usa is then re-figured by Canada revenue tooo value of $1300 at current currency prices, they then charge 13% fed and prov (5 & 8= 13% ) sales tax. At least in our province we get free healthcare. So living here has some benefits even tho we have no teams in this country challenging for the Stanley cup of hockey 2016 mike lynch

I had excellent results at The Plating House, just North of Toronto. In my case I had the lights, from a parts car. The grille surround was also from the parts car but the insert was purchased on eBay. I think I was lucky with that one. I asked the plater to do just the faces of the bars. ![[Linked Image from i1176.photobucket.com]](http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x324/landman2/May1620132.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i1176.photobucket.com]](http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x324/landman2/June120121.jpg)

I used Cambridge Custom Chrome in Cambridge ON for my '51. Very happy with the quality and work. No worries about "lost" parts as well...

I agree with 36RAGTOP!!! I also make up a document as to what I'm giving him with details about everything. Also give him a copy of the same document so you both know what was sent out.
That is how I found what I was missing from a car I was willed a few years ago. Took me 4 months to find the parts, but I did. Documentation saved the day.

I take photos of everything. Before dis-assembly, during and after removal, packing, and receiving back. Also, document the photos. It also gives you a good way to compair before and after. Besides it helps you remember how it goes back together. It may take weeks to get all your parts back and by then you may forget what went where.
