Would anyone have a 1928 Cabriolet and would be willing to share detail photos of the top bows, hardware and windshield header area? Thanks for any assistance.

Welcome to the VCCA site...

You've got two posts about cabriolets, the first mentions a '28, and the second a '29. Is it two different cars, or a typo on one? Where are you in Canada?

Hello,
I am in Oshawa. I have a 1929. Asking about 1928 as there are similarities even though wood framing and sheet metal is different. May hardware parts are common as listed in original parts books. If I can't find info about 1929 I am hoping maybe 1928 info could assist. Particularly around the windshield header and top bow arrangement with hardware.
Regard

There is a Kijiji ad that keeps popping up with a cabriolet on it. Maybe you could contact the seller for parts or info...

Re: 28 cabriolet in Kijiji. Looks like he has it sold and it has been butchered. Too bad.

Hi Robin yes some of the internal bracket are the same but the timber and the measurements are different. if you contact Verdon's classic castings they had the header board castings and also the pivot at the top of the back end of the doors, they also have the top rests that you would fold the top down onto. Please note the rests are different to 28 and are shorter in height and you could also try Bill Carpenter classic chey wood he has done some of the roof bows using Dick Oldenburg originals for a template. The timber posts and header boards are nothing like that of a sedan or coupe the windscreen is also for 29 only it is different to 28 and the sun visor brackets that are repo are for sedan and coupe the Convertible cabriolet has a wider screen and sun visor so the bracket does not scroll out wide enough to fit the cabriolet without some slight modifications.hope this helps. jim

Hi Jim,
Thanks, I will check out Verdone's. I recently contacted Bill Cartwright and he said he does not do 1929 Cabriolet wood.

Have you tried Jim Rodman @ Autowood Restorations, 219-797-3775? He shows 29' sport coupes so I wouldn't think the Cabriolet would be that much different.

Yes I contacted Jim and he also indicated he did not supply wood for 1929 Cabriolet. The Cabriolet has most all wood different then the sport coupe.

The e-mail address for Verdone's would not work. Is it correct?

Hello,
I am still interested in acquiring detail photos of the top hold down hardware for 1928 Cabriolet. I have a very early 1929 and some of the found hardware does not match what I have seen on later 29 so I wish to see if mine used earlier hardware.
Thanks in advance.
