Dad and I are working on the 31. We have put the steering all back together and we got an issue with it. When turning the wheel at certain positions we get like a bind/growling noise. It only happens when there is a load/ car on all fours if it is up in the air we don't really have the issue. Any help or if anyone has had this issue please let me know

My 31 steering is a problem also. I tried to take the slack out of the steering wheel using all the info I could find, when I get all the slack out of the pitman arm then left turn gets too tight. I installed a new section arm to the pitman arm, didn't work. Keep posting so I can learn how you cure your problem .

Steering column bushing could be your problem. It may need a little lubrication. When you turn the steering wheel especially when there is stress on the parts the steering shaft maybe start straining/rubbing against the side of the bushing. I had a similar problem when I first put my roadster together and found that a little lubrication ended the annoying noise.

If it isn't broken, fiddle with it anyway so you have something to repair.
