Having searched the site I am looking for the recommended piston clearance for the 1954 aluminum piston with a rebored block and new pistons. I have the 49-53 manual which states .015 at the skirt with a 7-18 lb drag on a feeler gauge for aluminum pistons. Is this still the same for 1954?

Hold on here fellas. That clearance should be .0015(one and a half thousandths) not .015 (fifteen thousandths) You set her at .015 and it's going to make an awful clatter

Good point-mine wasn't so good as I missed a zero,but the .0015 is what I meant to post.

Nor would I. Having retired from the parts dept of a heavy truck shop I am trying to stay away from the diesel clatter.
