I know this topic has been discussed several time, but when I reviewed the search, I did not see any resolution. I have an engine block that I acquired several years ago that has 30/31 written on it by someone. I was looking at the serial number and it is 5229597 on the outside pad and also under the side cover. No M or any prefix. The water pump is in the block like a 35. Does this number fall into the 35 year?

Gene's right, you have a 1935 Master motor (no prefix) built in June.
