The '35 Chevrolet Standard Coupe I am restoring has paint code 191, which I understand is Regimental Blue. From online sources, I see a chart stating the corresponding wheel color for that code is Commodore Blue.

Has anyone already done the homework and found reliable modern cross references for these paint colors?

Thanks in advance,
Tim

The Commodore Blue is for the steel artillary wheels used on the Master Deluxe.
All Standards had wire wheels and the wheel color choice was black, cream medium, or Aurora red.

I have, in my car, a list of paint codes and translation to modern colors that I received 30 years ago from a gentleman
from Vermont who was, at that time, the vcca paint technical advisor. I requested the Info when I repainted my '35 Std.
Coupe and wanted it to be as original as possible. Unfortunately, my car is in storage and not easily accessible
at this time! If you can wait a week or two, I will be happy
to copy and send it to you via e-mail or however it may work!
The paint code on my car translated to Brainerd Blue, and it
was almost an exact match for a mid-50s' Mercedes Blue and it
appears to be correct! If no one can help you sooner, let me
know and as soon as I can access my car, I will be glad to
assist you! I am pretty sure the man who compiled this info
has passed away! Phil Lipton Send me a PM with your e-mail
if this will help!

I was restoring my '35 Standard coupe in the mid 70s. I have that list of colors also. The guy might have been Wayne Martin. My car was originally black but my wife wanted it to be blue. We picked a blue from the color chips. I do not recall which blue it was but the modern (at the time) equivalent was an Opel color.

Yes, Wayne Martin is correct! I remembered his last name was Martin, but I couldn't recall his first name! He had a lot of
good information, but I believe he passed away and I have no idea of what happened to his compilation! It took much time
and effort to put that stuff together and it would be a shame to lose it! Again, I will be happy to furnish my copy but it will be a little while before I can access it! Phil

That was done like over 30 years ago. The colors would also be obsolete by now.
There were three dark blues available for 1935 sandard cars
.Adamiral Blue, Standard only.
22 1/2 oz dark blue(Chinese), 5 3/4 oz white, 3 1/2 oz black

Brainerd Blue,
19 1,2 oz white, 5 5/16 oz dark blue (Chinese)
3 5,8 oz black, 3 1,4 oz Prussian blue.

After March 10
Regimental blue
11 oz white, 6 1/8 oz Prussian blue, 15 1/4 oz dark blue (Chinese, 1/8 oz black

It is probable that my PPG jobber will be able to get me a modern paint formula for the original Regimental Blue by contacting the PPG Color Library. According to my understanding of what my jobber told me, the Color Library will pull the original color standard and create a match with that new-fangled color camera technology voo-doo thingamajig.

My request for a more modern cross reference was an attempt to skip that step. The existing libraries are getting better and better about having modern formulas for older colors.

I'd appreciate an opportunity to see the cross reference research that had been done previously.

Thanks!

See how PPG #40039 does for the Pinehurst Green. I recieved info in 2005 that it was a good match.
