Hi there,

Anyone know of any shop that can rebuild my shift box? I'm looking for it to be disassembled, cleaned and thoroughly inspected and have any issues repaired, properly assembled and lubricated. It's the original 3 on the tree. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Are you having problems changing gears???

Seems like I jammed my transmission gears(is it possible???), not sure but just sent it back to my shop to get looked at. They informed me the last time that the shifter was loose, can't recall excaclty what was wrong but will ask again. Vacuum assist and transmission have been rebuilt already, under a months time frame. Will get back to you all when I get word of what's wrong. Thanks again for asking.

I highly recommend: All Standard Transmissions, 861 Camden Ave., Campbell, Ca; Kevin is owner/operator. He completely rebuilt my '41 passenger car transmission with authentic NOS gears, bearings, shafts, and even a NOS synchromesh (which he had on the shelf!) He was able to do what two local transmission shops had been unable to do in the past: get the synchromesh to function as it was designed to do, and not grind when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd.

Thanks for the information, it was a treasure hunt trying to find a shop to rebuild mine, none local. Ended up shipping mine to a shop in LA but will keep this information for future reference. So got car back and turns out not transmission but the linkage. Hard to explain but one of the "hooks/arms" was worn down so they put it back in place and welded a little metal to keep it from jumping out of place. Wish I could post picture to show but all good again. Thanks again for the information.
