Reposting here in case folks don't see my question in the Mechanical Forum below: Quick question (that I should probably know) not addressed in my 1939 Shop Manual. When topping off my brake master cylinder, should I literally fill it to the top with enough gap for the plug or should I leave more of a gap? Thanks!

About an inch below the top is OK.

Thanks Gene - it's good to hear from you. Saw your 39 during the tour in Richmond VA this past September. Parked next to it with my 39 at one of the stops. Remember that your car served as inspiration for mine! Concerning the master cylinder, I've already filled it to the top (guess I should have known better) - should I remove some of the fluid to lower the level?

At this point I wouldn't worry about it. It will seek it own level. I was wondering if you were around.

Haven't been keeping up with the chat room as I transitioned into retirement. Hope to see you at lake Tahoe in August if you're going.

Hello Gene:

See you in Port Huron, Michigan in September for the tour. I will be the one driving there in my 40 coupe from beautiful downtown Canton to the state up north.
