Hi Guys,
I am having the fenders on my 29 repainted. The fenders were fitted with fender welt, however the running boards were not. They had a rubber strips between them and the splash plates and fenders.
I assume this is not correct and that the previous owner ran out of fender welt. Am I correct in assuming that the fenders as well as the running boards should be seperated by fender welt and not plain rubber strips.

IF YOU WANT IT TO LOOK SHARP, USE THE SILVER WELT AROUND THE RUNNING BOARD, TURN THE OUTER EDGES BACK UNDER THE RUNNING BOARD TO HIDE THE END, THERE IS A FORD PLACE IN CA. SELLS IT ON LINE.

You might want to type your posts in lower case since all capitals is considered yelling.

You can buy it at Sacramento Vintage Ford Parts,Inc.
916-853-2244 www.vintageford.com
remember to run the ends back under the fender to look sharp.
snip the flange to make sharp turns.
(silver welt) around the running board not the fenders.
good luck

TKS again Dulty,
I was thinking that chrome all round the fenders would be too much, but now your suggestion ( only around the running boards) makes sense. Thanks

Keep in mind that if you are going to have your car judged, points will be deducted for having chrome fender welting.

If not being judged however it's a good alternative in place of the high priced chrome trim.

As a side note, 1929 and 1930 passenger cars did not use a chrome trim around the running boards. However, the chrome welting would look cool though if the car is not going to be judged.

I also used it around the wheel wells, for the spare tires,
it really looks good.
Not good if you are going to be judged , its a no no.
