I have a 52 sport coupe i converted to 12 volt. installed droping resistor for gauge but it reads inaccurate, perhaps a ground problem? if so how do i go about this? Any help would be great thanks in advance. Skipp

did it read accurately with 6v? If so the problem is probably in the dropping resistor.

sometimes it takes more than one dropping resistor to get the correct ohms.

dont know if it was ok with 6 volt, it was not hooked up. gauge tests ok with a varible resistor and my droping resistor shows an output voltage of just under 6 volts. thanks for the response!

What did the variable resistor read from empty to full in ohms? and what did the intank variable resistor read from empty to full? from the lead at the dash gauge going to the tank unit (+) and to a good ground (-). your float, float arm, ground connection or variable resistor may be bad if the gauge swings from empty to full using a variable resistor in place of the tank unit.
