Curious why this engine is blue and confirming that the correct color should be the grey that The Filling Station sells??

Also, is this the original and correct engine for this 1936?

Thanks

Some years back engine rebuilding places (who also did transmissions, too) painted "rebuilds" blue. You could order an engine and just drop it in. It was exchange only. (yours for theirs) That way they always had an engine ready to go when one was called for.

Yes, the correct engine color is the dark blue-gray from the Filling Station.

836010 is the casting number for a 1936 engine, however, the casting date indicates that your engine was cast on October 29, 1938. Based on the casting date, it appears that your engine block is a replacement since it was not cast in 1936.

They were still making 1936 blocks in 1948 so it could be from 1938 or 1948. New blocks came from the factory unpainted and some one thought blue was prettty.
