When I bought my '48 cabriolet the previous owner had installed a disc brake conversion kit from Chassis Engineering in Iowa. He also put a manual dual master cylinder under the floor and it stopped really well. It is an easy conversion, take off the stock drum/hub and backing plate and bolt on the new parts...,.DONE! It would probably work with the stock master but I would install a dual master for more volume and the safety of dual lines in case of a rare failure of front or rear brakes. You can find 5-lug wheels that hold the original hubcaps from various sources if you want the original look. I'm going to be removing the conversion kit because I'm replacing the entire front suspension with a bolt-on Chassis Engineering Mustang II kit with disc brakes and power rack & pinion steering. It uses all the stock mounting holes used by the original suspension. I'll also be installing a firewall mounted power dual master cylinder. Also putting in a Chassis Engineering rear leaf spring kit with 2-1/4 " wide springs and tube shocks...all bolt in.

TAP48 are you sure the bolt in front crossmember will accept power steering? I bought a 52 that had a chassis engineering bolt in cross member that you had to use manual rack. I modified it and welded it in, then added a power rack.

I just installed a kit on my 1947 Stylemaster I found on ebay. It originally was put together by Auto City Classic but sold by tomsclassic. The kit didn't have instructions but was fairly easy to install. I had to get an adapter to hook up the new brake hose to the stock line and tried it out last week with just the stock master cylinder and it worked good. I plan on installing a dual master cylinder soon though.

dens41, I don't know about the '52 but for the '41-'48 the power rack is an option and I know several people with the CE kit and power pack on their '41-8 Chevys.
