Have a early chev? transmission case number 590204. Can anybody tell me the year or years these were used? Can these transmissions have new syncro gears installed in them?

I can fined the casting number to determine the year but the number leads me to believe it is a non-syncronized transmission.

I know from using the transmission that it is currently non synchro. My question is Does anybody know if this case can be re machined or does anybody know a company that does this type of service? Sorry for not being clearer on my 1st post.

I have never heard of anyone converting a non-synchro trans over to a synchro tranny.

Thanks Steve for your reply. Mitchell Manufacturing, in California, takes any Model A transmission and converts it to a synchromesh geared tranny, for your info. I am just wondering if someone else might do Chevrolet. So far it does not seem like anyone in Chevy land knows.....

The larger number of surviving A's makes it more lucrative for investments in parts and repairs. I was not aware that they could convert their trannys but I have heard that they have repair bands for the brake drums. Another benefit with greater population and production is pricing.

Does anybody know of a machine shop anywhere in the US that can put synchromesh gears in a late 20's to early 30's 3 speed Chevrolet transmission????
