I recently found a set of Chevy fender skirts for sale that are supposedly around 1950 - 54, but would like to know how to determine if they are gong to be correct (fit) for my '54 Belair Hardtop. I understand that there were changes made every couple of years.

Does any '53 - '54 Chevy expert have some pointers or pictures to help me learn the distinguishing features (or dimensions, etc) of the '53 - '54 skirts? Thanks for any help.

I don't really know the dimentions, and I don't know if there are any markings that would tell the differences. I do have a set of each (1949 thru 1952) and (1953 and 1954)and I will make some measurements and email you but it will be a week or so before I get back home (that is where the 53 is)

There is a left and right in 1949-50.When installed on a car a slight buldge or curvature can be seen in the front area of the skirt. The top of the skirt is a little taller to the front of the car

There is no left or right in 1951-the skirts will fit either side. The locking lever will be to the front for one side and rear for the other. The top edge is straight or even with a slight upwords curve in the center.

The 1953-54 skirt has a right and left and no buldge or curvature on the front edge-it is flat. The top edge is straight or even and has no slight upwards curve in the center as a 1951-52 has..The front and rear of the skirt are the same heigth.........hope this description is "understandable" if there is such a word.

PS-The levers are to the front of the skirt in 1949-50 & 1953-54 and hook on the lever locks into the front skirt bracket on wheel opening.

I have a 53 - the skirts are left and right- Because of placemant of the Latching mechanisim.
Measurement on one is 9 1/2 " from top to bottom in the center, and bottom edge from outer edges is 29 1/2"- they are not marked that I can see- no numbers or anything. Hope this helps along with the other advices listed.

Thank you all for the information. I think I should be able to make a good ID on the 53-54 skirts that i need now.
