Since we discussing turn signals...any idea how rare a factory turn signal set up would be for a '54 truck...just came across one still in the vehicle. Owner is willing to part with it but I don't know how difficult it would be to install on my non-factory '54 column...any guesses?

They are not very rare, most of the parts from a 1953-54 Chevrolet passenger car can be used. You just take the cup off of the back of the 1954 steering wheel and bolt on the cancelling cam. The switch and housing bolts to the steering column tube after you fish the wiring down the column tube. There is a hole on the underside of the column that is covered by the switch housing to feed the wires through and another on the column below where it bolts to the dash for the wires to exit.
A nice item, but like I said not that rare.
