I have tried for 3 days to remove my gas tank from the 1952 Station Wagon. I even read the shop manual. It says that it should slide right out. It does not. Do I need to drop the rear end to get the tank out? Any help would be great. Thanks Paul in Tennessee

Did you take the filler neck and vent off the tank? and the fuel gauge line and the ground strap? maybe it did or did not have a ground strap, I have seen them on passanger cars, don't know much about a station wagon, until the 1970s when I started traveling with 4 youngsters, (what a thrill)!

Did you try jacking the station wagon up by the frame rails so that the rear axle assembly will hang down some to give you extra clearance to remove the tank?

My wagon is on the frame rails and I even tried jacking the rear end down with a bottle jack. Still no luck. I have also removed all break lines, shocks and the rear cap on the rear end..Thanks Paul

good news....I got the gas tank out. I had to remove the rear springs from the frame and lower the rear end. I spent more time thinking about it then just diving in..... lesson learned Paul

I was going to comment until I saw the "station wagon" identity. Sure had no problems with the 52 2dr sdn.
