Before attempting to disassemble the transmission I would soak it in old transmission fluid or thin oil overnight. This might help to release the parts, if not it will atleast lubricate the chain so when everything is apart the chain is easy to cleanup!
Below are pictures of a wiper transmission. The first shows the cape that the wiper arm is pressed onto. The second picture shows a 10mm open end wrench which you can slide under the neck of the transmission. Using a a small hammer you can strike the bottom of the wrench as the transmission is held firmly in a vice. Take your time so as to not damage the bottom of the cap as you drive it off the shaft.
The next picture shows how to use a large screw driver to pry out the shaft. The last picture shows all the transmission parts. When you remove your shaft you may still have a fiber washer resting in the indentation in the center of the shaft, it is for lubricating the transmission. A lot of times the washer has disintegrated. You can try and make one out of a piece of felt or just pack the area with grease when you reassemble the transmission.
Good luck, Mike
P.S. Take your time, and do not use brute force!
