any one know why 27 trucks have the letter s stamped in there crossmembers and why the 4 rear spring mounts that are riveted on are a different shape from one truck to another , is this just different yrs or ......

I dont think it is only the 1927 model trucks that have the "S", the chassis number on my 38 begins with S38xxxx so I am inclined to think it is more to do with the size designation that Chev decided on for the Aus only market.
As far as I can find out Aus are the only country that stamped the Chassis with an indentifying number, the US used the engine number until the mid 50's.
