All this time I though I had a fuel pump that fit my 1952 235ci engine. It was marked with a black sharpie type pen 37-52 chev. It also was stamped with the number 40128. The fuel pump was to small for my engine. The bolt holes were right but the pump was about 3/4 of an inch to short. I was unable to find 40128 listed in my parts book so my question is does anyone know what this pump fits? Is this some kind of after market pump for a 216ci?

It would be hard to say what the pump is supposed to fit, I have been bit on "swap meet" NOS fuel pumps even with the correct Delco parts list. If they fit usually a few days or weeks is all it takes for the new non-leaded gas to eat the old style diaphram material into small needle and seat clogging black balls and globs.
My advice:
Buy or order from reliable vendors and keep your receipts.

The number is not listed in my AC book.
The fuel pumps fit all 216-235 engines from 1937-62..........The only difference is the angle of the line fittings. For use in a 1937-51 chassis the 429 pump is best - a 4149 for 1952 and up can be used but the original lines will need to be bent.New pumps are available from any parts house -may require a special order.

Our local NAPA store has in stock on the shelf single diaphram pumps for around $28 and the double diaphram for $56.
