The oil filter assembly was not "standard equipment" on your 1950. It was dealer installed, if requested.

Do you have the oil filter canister on your vehicle now ?

Use AC P-115 or Fram C-4 element.

The oil filter was not standard equipment. If ordered from the fastory as factory installed it was an AC (was division of GM)....if installed later by dealer or owner it was the same AC but body was bright blue and lid was orange. There were at least a dozen of other brands made to fit a Cevrolet and the most common "off-brand" was a FRAM.

Gene,

What was the color of the factory installed filter?

Just wondering.

Sorry, I thought I mentioned that. The factory installed was black.
In 1962 (235) the filter became standard equipment and all 1962 filters should be black to be correct.
