After all this time, I'm not sure what the 1941 heaters looked like. Does anyone have a picture of each of the styles offered. hood (I know what the undersea one looks like so that is not my question.)

Also, what was the model number on the back of each of them.

Ray or Gene may know the answer to this.

I want to get the proper one and have it restored by Casslelit(?)

Thanks for any help on this.

Pictures on the way. Don't have Harrision model numbers as Chevrolet never used them.
The tag is usually dated like 4-41 etc.

CC, That's what I have in the 41 coupe now. I see many of them but I don't believe it is the right year or the deluxe one. Thanks, though.

Gene,

So far I haven't been able to open the pictures you sent. I'll ask my son to help me with it. I'm not all that computer savy. hood

Hi Gene,

I also would like to see your pictures. I fixed one up and will post it, but don't know if it is correct for 1941? Perhaps you can send me your pictures and I can try to post them for all to see.

Thanks, Mike

The 1941 Accessory Brochure shows the two heaters pictured. Are these what we are looking for? I too, have one like Chef's picture in my 41. The heaters in the brochure appear to have three doors instead of two. Was the accessory defroster available with either heater or just the Super Deluxe as shown?

The Defroster that sits on top of the heater can be used on either The Deluxe or Super Deluxe heater. Infact it will fit most of the heaters from 1938 and up.....plus a lot of other GM cars.
The model tag on the heater should have a date stamped on it.
I believe the two door heater posted is for a 1942-1947. was the only other years that used a verticle door heater.

3 doors are correct. The defroster unit fits both heaters.

That thermostat (and box) was sold up into the mid '50's and was used in production through 1953. It was replaced by the pellet type in production in 1954.

Thanks Minetto, Ray, Gene and CC.

You have been a big help. I think I have the right heater. I will check it against the pictures and get ready to send it off to the guy in Fla for restoration.

I don't know that I might prefer the underseat heater with just the defroster up under the dash. I like the nice clean look but not the hoses hanging down under the car. I must make a decision on this.

Any opinions would be welcome.

best,

I think I tried to install the pictured thermostat in my 48 and it did not fit the housing??

Charlie the 41 heater if restored properly is a real nice looking unit plus you will not have to cut a hole in the floor

It should fit OK as that is what came in the car when new only it was a 143 degree.
If the dealer installed a heater and "permenant" antifreeze the would install a 180 Deg. for the winter months.
By the way, the part number on the box of that thermostat is not in the 1948 or 1953 parts book.

While we're on the topic of heaters I'd like opinions on the following picture. Although now only parts, this was a complete heater that I bought at Hershey a few years back. It was unrestored when I bought it and appeared to have never been apart. As you can see, the trim plate is similar to the one in Chef's picture but had a red back ground instead of brown. Does anyone know what it fit? Commercial maybe?

They sold the same heater cor cars and trucks. One may be for a 1942 and one for a 1946 as an example.

at this time I don't have good pictures of the 1942-1947 Deluxe heater.

CC,

You ain't though no such thing. Agrin

Mike,

That appears to be the Deluxe heater. The one I want to have is the Super Deluxe.

Still three doors but broader "knobs." Yours appears to be a genuine 41 though.
