Re-wired my 37 a few years ago and everything on the electrical side has been working great--until last month when I lost all my lights. The car starts, runs and drives good but can't get the lights to work. At this point I'm thinking that it's the light switch but not sure, want that to be the last choice because it's tough to remove, that plus they are getting hard to find. Thoughts?

I assume that the fuse is OK. If it looks good try another as sometimes they loose contact internally but look OK.
Next I would check the power wire coming into the switch with a test light. Would check for power at the dimmer switch (with lights on) It is the center terminal on the dimmer switch.
Do the tail lights and or the dash lights work?

Gene is right on! iagree
I had that happen on my 37 a couple years ago, the problem for me was it is hard for an old man in the dark to lay under the dash and try and find/change the fuse. I drove home (back gravel roads) with my spot light to see with! I then bypassed the original fuse and put a modern fuse that I can pull out from under the dash on lead wires to change. Not original but it works for me. devil

There's a lot of that going on, myself included.

Well, since the car would run the fuse has to be good, unless there is another one that I don't know about. If there is one in the light switch I can 't see it. A loose wire could be the culprit, I'll do some more checking.

"well since the car will run the fuse is OK".............the fuse will not stop the engine from running. The fuse is either on the back of the light switch or back of the ammeter. The ownes manual does not give IMPORTANT information such as this.

The fuse is for the lights and it has nothing to do with the car running. Pull the fuse and check it and then you will know if you have a defective fuse or not.

Well, learned something today--you don't need a fuse to run the engine! I changed the fuse and found a side of the holder behind the amp meter to be loose--a quick tighten and bingo, lights! I'm a happy guy--thanks for your usual good help!
