Would a 1964 327/300HP Flint casting produced around July/August 1963 have had a "3" or "4" cast in it for the year? Engine was assembled in September 1963 for a 64 Chevy…thx..Billu38

It should have the year month and day of the month that it was cast on the rear driver side of the block, letter for the month except for "I" today would be A-13-15

John, I'm aware of that but the Flint blocks have a one digit cast in "year" marked near the casting number to my knowledge…("3" for 1963…"4" for 1964)...the numbers you are talking about are in a different area….and the Tonowanda casting has a year number followed by a "T" cast in it…that's the number I'm talking about...Billu38

IT means that was the actual date when it was cast. Verne

tonowanda cast dates were 2 digits while flint cast dates were a single digit for the year of casting.all flint cast dates are on the pass side of the flange and most tonowanda cast dates are also on the pass side altho i have one tonowanda 870 block that has its cast date on the drives side. mike
