I'm getting ready for that big day when I start my 51 chevy sedan delivery for the first time.I found 5 starters in the garage One with out a solenoid (I know this is pre 51) The rest have solenoids but one of them has an exposed plunger, shift lever and return spring. The Chevy parts book I won on e bay is in the mail and would appreciate some ones help to ID one of my starters.

The correct starter will have the upper part of the lever exposed. If it has the Delco tag on it the number stamped on the should be 1107075 or 1108035.

I've got the 1107075 starter. Are there lock washers on the stud and bolt that attach it?

I would use shake-proof washers to insure a good starter to engine ground.

Clean to bare cast iron the area around the starter mounting hole and bolt threads and around the stud, and the part of the starter that mounts, use lockwashers on the stud and bolt.
