My 39 Business coupe not only has the town and country horns but also has the small horn bolted to the manifold,I was wondering if when the town, and country horns were ordered at the factory or Dealer, they would have left the small horn off,I will keep both on if I think it would be correct. Also maybe the T.and C. horns came along later and someone didn't bother to remove the small one.

The 1939 Town & Country horns were a dealer installed accessory. The long dual horns (painted gray) were the country horns and the original factory horn was the "Town" horn. A switch mounted on the dash allowed the driver to select between the two.
The removal of the "Town" horn would have eleminated the main feature.

Thank you,my horns haven't been connected since I have had the car for a short time, all new wiring is being installed at this time,to me when the two that are together are refereed to it sounded like they were called the Town, and country horns, but they are really just the country horns, and the short one bolted to the manifold is the town horn. Thank you.

I mounted a three position toggle switch under my dash to switch between the single and accessory horns. The switch is (on circuit one/off/on circuit two). It serves the same purpose as the '39 T&C switch with the added benefit of the OFF position for when I'm messing with the horn button/steering wheel. I can do so without constantly honking the horn. You can see the toggle switch below.

I can understand why they had that. My dual horns are loud enough to wake the dead and I still have the six volt system.

My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .
