Will a stock GM sunvisor fit a 53 wagon?

I know it won't my '52 wagon, as the wagons are taller than the sedans. I had to find an after market visor.

Anybody know if the same is true for the 53 - 54 wagons?

Thanks,

DCMatt

There are two visors listed in the 1953 parts book. One for sedans (not 2 door hard tops, convertibles, station wagons or sedan deliveries) and one for 2 door hard tops.

So... that means neither one will fit SD, conv., or wagon?

Anybody have thoughts or ideas on what will fit a '53 - '54 wagon and where I can get one?

Most of what I see on Ebay is for split windshield cars.

The later Fulton visor shoud fit OK as its adjustable for width. This would be the one they made for 1953-54 passenger cars.It has the wide chromed band on the front edge and the round chrome ornament on each end-where the bracket attaches.

This information was taken from the 1954 Accessories installation manual:

VISOR-Outside, Passenger & Station wagon 986674
Procedure for installation of outside car visor on all model Passenger cars, except sport coupe and convertable.
After 20 steps given to install the visor you will find this item:
INSTRUCTION FOR STATION WAGON
It will be necessary to have an adapter package part Number 986998 which is available from General Motors Parts Division Warehouse. The station wagon requires a different center mounting bracket(986998). All other installation instructions are the same as the sedan.

Ths Sport Coupe visor number is 986675

Thanks Dandyd

I'm guessing the wagon specific center bracket would be tough to find.

Any chance the regular sedan bracket can be modified to work? If so, how?

Thanks again,

DCMatt
