I am looking for information on how and where to mount the stop lite switch on a 1931, 5 window.

On 1931 passenger vehicles , the stop light switch is mounted onto the inside of the left hand chassis rail with 2 round head bolts. it is in the vicinity of the brake cross shaft, and is actuated by a lever off that cross shaft.

Don't know if this helps but the photo shows the brake light switch on my '32 sedan.

Yes , the brake light switch was in a new location for 1932 onwards, the switch is a lot better than the 1929 to 1931 switches.

As Jack mentioned, the 1932 brake light switch was a completely different switch and it was mounted in a different location than the brake light switch for 1931.

is the 31 similar to the 29 in mounting and location ??
if so i can possibly dig up a photo or two to share

Yes, the brake light switch is in the same location as the 1929 and 1930 brake light switch.

Posted pictures of my switch as I found it when I got my car. It was mounted upside down but in the correct spot.
