try HIBERNIA AUTO RESTORATIONS in NJ.....google them.

They have all the paint codes for the usa models and if you look on ebay usa you will find sellers of original usa paint colours for 34 Chevrolet.

Unfortunately nobody has the paint chips for early Canadian built Chevrolets. Vintage Vehicle Services at 1-905-440- 7618 FRANK, might be able to advise you exactly what colour the car was originally if the firewall fisher body tag says the car was made in Oshawa Ontario.

Hey,

Thought I had posted something here yesterday while traveling. Here goes again.

I have a modern code for the maroon that I used on my car. If I remember right it crossed over to a 80's ford color. When we painted my car a few years ago we used DuPont chroma base coat, clear coat. Also there is a black that we used for the fenders which is great. I've fold more people then I can count that think I used single stage.

I also have code for some of the other color, just don't have chips for 34. Do have some pictures of other colors which were offered in the US and what parts got what color.

I would assume that any paint store would be able to use the DuPont number I give you and get a PPG cross.

Hey Bruce, not sure if I feel right about putting a FORD color on my Chevy. I would like to see pics of other colors that were offered for '34. Any other reds/maroons?

Hey,

Its just a modern formula to mix the correct Chevy paint....Ford couldn't come up with anything better so they copied.

So lets start here.....from Bulletins 8/9.
Regent Maroon
Admiral Blue
Arcadian Green
Pueblo Brown
Black
Penguin Gray
Ozblood Red (Maroon)
Scarab Green
Malay Brown, Light
Kingswood Gray

The only problem here, my documentation does not show a sport sedan at all. That must be because it came out so late in the year.

I painted my car Oxblood Red. Every one loves it. The color is an excellent match with the 70's Ford maroon color. I have good original paint chips to compare it to. I can send you the information if you want.

You should also ask Bruce to post up a pic of his "ford coloured" award winner. One of the best looking cars in the club...

Hi Scott,

Since Mike is not a member of the VCCA he can't post pictures very easy. But here you go.

The first on is a 34 Cabriolet which is painted Oxblood and I can get the formula for that color very easy as it's a friends car. Oxblood I think was only used on Cabriolet's and Master roadsters. I would need to check that to be sure.

The second picture is a 34 standard roadster which is painted Regent Maroon.

The third picture is another one of my car, which show it in a different light which will make it darker. Also my car is using the same formula as the roadster.

One thing to note, this color will change with more coats of paint too. The less you apply the more purple it will be.

Thank you Bruce for that great comment about my car....means a lot!

The cross reference for Oxblood Red is 1973 Ford 2J maroon.

Bruce I was a member of the vcca couple of years ago but I let it drop as any info I need is generally available here on chat and within a day or 2 , not months.

I have never tried to post pictures on here, if a person wants a picture of what I am talking about , all they have to do is contact me directly at my email address supplied and I send them directly to them. Its that simple.

Does anybody know if those color charts posted on e-bay are actual colors or is their a better source. Specifically for a 1936 Master Model FA.

Thanks,

Mike is absolutely right! Why become a member of the VCCA when you can get virtually everything you want on Chevy Chatter for free? I think that Mike has a real point here.

So, how about making Chevy Chatter read only and to post or ask questions you would have to be a registered VCCA member? We have talked about this before so maybe it needs revisiting again in a more appropriate forum. Just a thought......

Junk Yard.......do that and a whole lot of potential correct answers to questions will go unanswered. And also people wanting correct answers to their questions will back away.

I joined the vcca way back in 72 and stayed with it as a member till the late 80's. I rejoined and got the magazine again a couple of years ago. After a year I let it expire. But I found myself seeking info and getting timely answers online. I get more information just in what I am interested in 1934 1935 standard series Chevrolets than I would ever glean in the magazine content.

I think the VCCA magazine is almost like most print media, quickly becoming redundant ?

Heck why not make Chevrolet chatter for members who are VCCA registered only ??

Actually, the correct answers to asked questions will still be answered but to registered VCCA members only.

I agree with you and that is exactly what I suggested in my previous post based on the excellent point that you had regarding free information being given away on Chevy Chatter without belonging to the VCCA.
