Want to install a new cowl vent seal. But wich side has to be on top? There was no gasket, so i have no example. Look at the picture, is this right or must be upside down? ![[Linked Image from 1940specialdeluxe.files.wordpress.com]](https://1940specialdeluxe.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/20151219_122802.jpg)

Hi Andre, The 37-48 vent seal is the same so I think you have it correct if there is a rubber ridge that is sticking up closest to the vent. I think you can see the correct installation better in my picture. Good luck, Mike P.S. My rubber piece is from Steele ![[Linked Image from i1321.photobucket.com]](http://i1321.photobucket.com/albums/u560/41chevymike/IMG_3837_zpsfeed6zki.jpg)

Hello Mike, Here a picture from the underside and the right corner. Mine is from steele, too. Want to dissasembke the vent, but it is not possible to get it out, the lever is to long?! ![[Linked Image from 1940specialdeluxe.files.wordpress.com]](https://1940specialdeluxe.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/img_6275.jpg)

Hi Andre, The vent should lift out after disconnecting the 4 small bolts holding it in place, and then lifting it up on the outside of the top of the firewall. Tilt the vent towards the windshield as you lift it up. When you meet resistance (you can not raise the vent anymore) guide the vent towards the passenger side of the car. Moving the vent towards the passenger side while tilted will enable the long lever to pass through the empty hole in the vent. You need to be extra careful to not scratch your paint. If you are worried put a few strips of tape on the passenger side next to the opening. Take your time, you will be surprised how it slips right out with a little patience. Good luck, Mike ![[Linked Image from i1321.photobucket.com]](http://i1321.photobucket.com/albums/u560/41chevymike/IMG_3838_zps8o6fr2to.jpg)

Hi Mike, now it is outside. Please have a look at the mounting from the gasket, is this right or this one ![[Linked Image from 1940specialdeluxe.files.wordpress.com]](https://1940specialdeluxe.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/img_6316-e1451326507835.jpg) For the second example the rubber is to small, to fix it i have to stretch it and glue it two times
