There are several freight brokers online. U-ship is one I have used and was happy with the service.

When it was time to ship my two '51 Chevys from north GA to NC, I contacted U Ship for a quote, but me not knowing U Ship was a "broker".
The bids came in, hot and heavy, from super economical pricing to CRAZY pricing.
Trouble was, when checking these businesses out through BBB, the good guy, combined with the good prices was not to be found.
Emails continued to come in with "24 hour specials" ..... but, me not replying to the "24 hour specials" from the lowly rated BBB folks, then generated even more emails, the latter emails being unkind, because of my non acceptance.
The entire process, generated from U Ship, was overwhelming.
A guy and his son, from AACA, were the folks I ultimately hired, to transport the two '51's.
Just my .02 cents with my experience.

Surprising, I believe they have to provide licence and insurance credentials prior to being allowed to quote.

If you could ship the engine from the other side of the bridges the price drop a lot!

Surprising, I believe they have to provide licence and insurance credentials prior to being allowed to quote. I know, for a fact, that all were not "legal businesses", so to speak. Some stated they "had a truck and trailer", with no other comments or replies, when asked for insurance info, etc.

Just a thought, but maybe check with UPS Freight? You can get a quote online if you know the weight. Might be more cost effective as it's already palletized.
I could be talking out my south end. LOL

If you have an auto recycling yard near by they have their own shipping sources, I have used their services to ship a engine and transmission from Syracuse NY to Louisiana at a very reasonable rate the total weight 850 pounds cost $150. Al

Thanks all. The buyer resurfaced today. I still dont have his shipping details. I was trying to help him out as well as being able to get this engine to a good home. I don't have a truck to get the pallet over the bridges. I think it would be too heavy for UPS. I will source out a salvage yard when the buyer makes good on the purchase. Thanks again.

UPS and Fedex do ship heavy items. I would give them a call with your weight and check it out. A call is cheap.

Didn't know Fastenal shipped. Good to know. The guy that said he wanted it fell off the earth for the second time. But I found someone in N.J. that needs it for a 36 pick up.

I'm shipping a 28' motor and trans on a metal frame to Indiana from MA for $189. Crate is 30x48x30 and figured at 500lbs. I take it to the terminal to drop off. Not a lot of money in my opinion.

Buyer fell off the face of the earth. Thanks though. Since then someone from N.J. bought it for his 36 truck.
