Was needing the original diameter of the piston bores in the block for the 171 engine. I may need to have my block bored over and need the original size to gauge from. Not the piston size itself but the bore size in the block. Thanks

While we are talking about the bore of the 4 cylinder engines, how much wear is too much before the block needs to be sleeved or scraped?

0.060" sixty thousands is the max oversize with a lot of piston manufacturers I do know of a person who went 0.080 eighty thousands oversize and has had head gasket problems ,they can blow through number 1 to no 2 or number 3 to number 4 easily.

If you check it early enough you can sleeve all 4 cylinders and it will be okay. I have never had to do all 4, but have done one at a time.
