Does anybody have an owners manual for a 1933 Standard that isn't dated March/April? I have a question about the starting procedure. Thank you, Joe

What is your starting question?

It has to do with the ignition lock cyl. The March/April owners manual indicates a pop out type which my February built car has. I was just curios if they changed in the later owners manual....Joe

The 1934 parts book lists only one eletrolock for 1933 and one for 1934.
Later parts book list the 1934 version for both years and it was not a pop-out.
This leads me to believe all 1933 cars had the pop-out style.

I was under the impression that early 1933 Chevrolets used an electrolock like the '32. Later it was replaced with one that pops out and snaps onto the coil. I have one of those in my collection.

The early 1933 electrolock is a pop-out and it goes direct to the top of the coil. The lock cylinder end of the electrolock is the same as the one used in 1932 but the cable itself is smaller in diameter like all of the later electrolocks and it has a cap on the coil end for attaching the electrolock to the coil.

The late 1933 electrolock is an off-on type and it too goes to the top of the coil.

Do you know where early & late took place? My Feb 1933 Standard has the "pop out" design as described in the 1933 Standard owners manual. It attaches to the coil. I was trying to see if a later Standard owner's manual was out there to determine if later built Standards continued or if the remained with pop out design during the entire production...Joe

As I recall, the change took place I believe around the middle of the model year.

Guess I have an early '33 popout electrolock.
