Is that masked stainless trim that has been left on behind the rear door, or is it stamped into the body?

Thats how the bodies were stamped. Would not have had that much shine with the original lacquer UNTIL the paint was buffed out and polished. Looks grate and a good color match. That was a very popular color in 1951.

It looks great! The worst part of it is that there still a lot of work to do. The fit and finish seems to take forever and it is just so hard to keep from rushing it. The best part of it is everything you do from now on give you the feel of progress

It is foil, the whole car is covered in it, plus I have sound deadening material for the inside of the doors yet.

Yes my buddy calls it a "modern paint job", color Fathom Green, 4 coats of primer, 2 coats of primer sealer, 3 coats of paint, and 3 coats of clear. So basically the car is a 1/4 inch bigger

That is beautiful!
I fell in love with the Fleetline model as a young teenager in the early 1970s. A local gas station owner proudly displayed his 1950 Fleetline in front of the station; it too was green metallic, but maybe a shade darker. For 1950, I guess this would have been "Crystal Green."
I have owned my 1949 2 dr Fleetline since 1988--it is black, but looks very elegant.
Congrats on getting your car this far along!

So basically the car is a 1/4 inch bigger Not entirely an exaggeration, either! From my own experience, I can tell you one thing specifically to beware of: do you remember the sliding lock plates that retain the exterior door handles to the doors? They will be significantly more difficult to insert than they were to remove. Both the additional paint thickness above that of the old lacquer, and the new uncompressed rubber pads can conspire to make reinstalling the exterior door handles lots of fun!

Not sure if I should start another subject or just add to this as I'm guessing I'll have a bunch of questions as this re assembly goes on. This one is what color was this top bar that I have primed lime green for now. I'm guessing semi gloss black? Or argent silver?

Which rubber bumper is correct? The one with the pointed nipple seems right but doesn't give with the hole size and won't reach through? The other one is going to need a bolt and washer?

The fasten with the nipple. My '50 has two thicker bumpers and two thinner ones. It looks as if the two pieces of metal are too far apart.

Are the two thinner ones on the outside or towards the inside? Thanks
