Since the Filling Station item is unavailable, (inside headlight bucket wiring) I may have to make up a duplicate. What gauge wire is correct for this 6 volt application? Are the little contact buttons available?

The Filling Station shows pigtails for the headlight buckets in their new catalog. Are you saying that the Filling Station doesn't have this item even though it is in their new catalog?

At any rate, I used 14 gauge wire when I made up my headlight pigtails and I reused the buttons from the old pigtails.

I know they're being made but might not have made it to the Filling Station yet....Joe

They're in the online catalogue, but when you try to put them in your shopping cart, you get an "unavailable" notice.

That's interesting as the new supplier has sent some to the Filling Station. Maybe those were snapped up by the back orders. Will be more coming when some of the parts that make up the internal headlight harnesses are finished. If that is the case should only be a short time before more are ready.

You might want to call the Filling Station regarding your order and find out what the exact status is.

A small copper or brass tack can be used for the "button" if you do not have the old ones.

I found that small hollow copper rivets worked great for the little contacts. They already have a hole through them and they're easy to solder. The big box hardware stores have them.

PS, I agree: 12 gauge wire.

I agree...the rivets work very well....use some good multi-core solder and a good iron...

12 gauge wire is too large and stiff for the headlight pigtails. You shouldn't use anything larger than 14 gauge wire.

14 gauge wire is plenty big enough. I use brass rivets or sometimes just solder. The brass hollow rivets make good contacts as they don't corrode or oxidize as much as copper.

I just finished rebuilding the Headlight pigtails on my 29 coach this week. I found a small business in San Diego, Ca that has the cloth covered 14 Ga wiring and brass buttons that you need. They have an on-line catalog at restorationstuff.com
Don't lose or destroy the flat insulators as they are almost impossible to find.

I normally go to RI wiring to get all the parts that you need to complete the headlights and taillights.

Also I would call the Filling Station and check, I have seen where the online catalog is behind a little as to what they really have in stock. It's worth a call.
