Hi All,

When you press the accelerator, the engine bogs down before final coming up to RPM. What causes this, Carb has been rebuilt recently. Also is a gasket needed between the carb insulator and the intake manifold? I have a gasket on both sides of the carb insulator but the nuts on the carb are not fully "down" but the carb is tight. Thanks

I would check that the accelerator pump on the carb is adding gas when the throttle is depressed. Look in the throat and work the lever,

I agree...definitely check the accelerator pump in your carburetor to see if it is working.

The factory did not install gaskets at that location.....but that is not your problem.

With engine off, look down in carb. and pull the throttle open. You should see a good squirt of gas. I have seen them sputter gas and this is not good. Should be a good steady flow.

Thanks, that's what it looks like, any easy way to clean that out without removing and opening up the carb?

The best thing for you to do is to rebuild the carburetor because you probably need a new accelerator pump. And, you may have dirt in the carburetor as well.

Don't forget to remove the plugs on the underside of the carb. That is where you will find the "screens" in there that filter fine smaller than dust particles out of the gas. Those are often forgoten when rebuilding.
