Okay so I am currently working on making a removable which that uses a hitch receiver for a car carrier. I was wondering if any of you have done this if so what are some ideas or pictures you have of your setup.

I have seen some ideas on garage journal and other places.

We have the winch set up already just waiting for the trailer to be finished for pickup.

Here are pictures of the winch.

Here is the picture of the trailer but will slightly differ with the ramps instead of the dual gate ramps it will have two six foot tuck away car ramps.

Here on the east coast a new trailer like that costs $2000. new. I am guessing the deck is about 6-1/2' x 16'-18'.If you don't mind my asking, what do they go for on the west side?

Yes I have, I bolted a hitch receiver to the deck of the trailer. I "fish plated" a piece of 1/4" steel under the deck. Rather simple and safe. I see your winch already has the hitch mount on it.

Thanks yeah we have an extra reciver hitch laying around here and thought that would be a good idea. Our trailer is going to be 20 feet long with 5200lb axles so the trailer will have the ability to tow a max of 8000lbs this is because the weight of the trailer itself.

That is great will be a versatile hauler. My trailer is 102" or 8 1/2 feet wide. That extra 6 inches makes a BIG difference when loading newer vehicles.

BTW when welding the receiver tube to the trailer use stitch welds so you don't have the grind the inside of the tube after it cools. Grinding or filing the inside of the tube is not fun. Don't ask me how I know.

Thats why we went that big so if we have to tow any other vehicles. That sounds like a good idea thanks.

I know that the receiver tube is sold as a unit with a mounting plate already welded to it, helps avoid that problem Chip mentioned.

Yeah going to replace lights with LEDs and add more marker lights since it is a 20ft trailer. Also going to look into adding a Licence Light as well but need to figure out where to mount. Also Need to figure how to mount the hitch receiver to the trailer now to have a removable winch.

Anyone have any pictures of their trailers that they can show me so I can get some ideas.
