After the feverish activity to get the early '14 Baby Grand running and moving after it's 90+ year slumber in time for the Central Meet this past July, I have to admit I haven't done much with it since. Not for lack of wanting to, but life has been complicated lately.

Last month the car had its 102nd "birthday" (built in early October 1913), and yesterday was a perfect Ohio Fall day - temps near 70 F and blue skies. So I topped off the radiator, oiled up the rockers, and checked the pressure in the tires - and cranked the old girl up. Started on the 3rd pull, not bad after 6 or 8 weeks of sitting.

Got the Bride into the car, and went all the way around the block, a little over half a mile. That's the farthest I have driven it with the temporary "fix" still in place at the torque tube / differential. But no problems, and even got into high gear for the first time. Made it into a good day! My neighbor took a quick photo as we pulled out.

Man, that old Chevy is looking great and I'll bet that she enjoyed a ride around the block after 90 years!

By the way, did you happen to see "Chasing Classic Cars" on TV last night? They found a totally original 1921 Stutz Bearcat with 11,000 miles buried in a garage out in the country in the middle of nowhere. The dirt driveway off of the main road to get to the garage was about half a mile long. The last time the car was driven was back in 1931...84 years ago! The new owner (Wayne Carini) took the car back to his shop, got it cleaned up and running, and then took it to Pebble Beach and won "Best of Show" in the preservation class. Bet he paid big bucks for that car!

Well, Skipper, Liz read this - and she said it has NOT been 90 years since she got a ride around the block!

Did you leave her high and dry after stalling it, like you did with me in Hudson?? We're still blaming that on Miner, right?!!

Looks like a fun day out!

Yep, that was clearly Miner's fault. But I got her cranked back up and rolling again. These things just take a little longer when you don't use one of those new-fangled electric starters.

Hum.....okay......but since Liz is married to you I figured that it has probably been a very long time since you took her out for a ride around the block. drink
