I have a Chev Master 4 door Sedan, 1938. I think the gear shift lever in my car is not the original. Does anybody has a picture on how the original does look like? I have not been able to find such a picture on www. Are anybody selling a reproduction of it? It seems Chevs of the 40s and Fillingst are not.

This knob isn't OEM but the lever is.

Thanks. Seems like the lever is brown/black? Then for sure my lever is not the original one, as it is crome and with a cromee knob!

Did the know has this brown color in 1938? I see Chevs of th 40s is selling this for knob for 1929-1939: https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail/11568/Chevrolet_Shift_Knob_All_With_Floor_Shift_Black.html
But maybe it did not look the same all this years and was not black and had this shape in 1938?

Hi,

By the way: Do you have a detailed picture on how the emergency brake lever is connected to the emergencey brake knob? Also my knob-part is not original, as it is a crome part connected to the lever.

You need to ask them if it's a push on or thread on knob. The OEM knob was a push on. The original color of the shifter is Plover Beige, the same as the lower part of the dash. Many years of wear & weathering later it looks the way it does now.

I see Chevs of th 40s is selling this for knob for 1929-1939:

Chevs of The 40's application is incorrect. The gear shift knob for 1929-32 is threaded and it is not the same as the gearshift knob for 1938. Also, the gear shift knob for 1929 and 1930 is a two-piece knob.
