CC, When one does not follow sound advice, what then does one expect. Pull the hose off, spring for a bottle of Indian Head (IH) sticky stuff, coat the inside of the hose, replace the hose, tighten it back up and it won't leak. Used IH for many years when working at my dad's radiator shop and never had a leak afterwards. The beauty of IH is that it will break away easily when you want to remove the hose. Good product. (Same for Solder Seal. It's good stuff too.) Try it. Charlie

I replaced the hoses, pipe and clamps at the same time. I kind of think its the smooth paint coating on the metal to rubber hose. Charlie had mentioned to use some Indian head sealant, which I did not do. I had to soap up the pipe to alien on the rubber hose...Its kind of a tricky fit as you try to line it all up . Charlie, welcome,it's been a while...As you can see above I did not forget your advise...I have the Indian Head and will do as am told, thanks my friend ..have one on me

Thank you. Beautiful picture. I ordered new hoses with the G.M. script on them from Chev's of 40's. Radiator repaired. Repainting thermostat housing pieces next. Parts coming in next week sometime. I will be so glad to get it all back together correctly ! Thanks for the help !

So when applying, must you put on both sides to be sealed and let dry"as the instructions state? If so does the hoses still slide freely?Or just on the hose wet and Install?

I have placed IH on the radiator inlet/outlets, and on the inside surfaces of the hoses. I have NOT allowed IH to fully dry. Hoses still install easily. After clamping, I always allow "setup time", say an hour or so, before adding any coolant/distilled water. No leaks.

Thanks I will go for it.. In all probability, the "set up time" may not be critical, but I tend to give the IH time to set up. I'm in no hurry, nothing but time ....... PLUS I don't want to do any job a second time. Good luck.

Hello, I had the same issue with my 49 chevy, I wrapped some black electrical tape around the hose. It did the trick..

Up in the 36-41 forum Back Roads posted he received on 9/16/15 the clamps that were on back-order from CoT40's. Might give them a call.
