How's it going everyone? I'm new to the website and had a question about my car.

I have a 1971 Chevrolet Impala 2-door hard-top Custom Coupe 350 4BL V8.
I have been searching for restoration parts, but needed to know what is the difference between the regular 2 door coupe and the Custom Coupe?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi and welcome to Chevy Chatter. This is a great place to gain knowledge about your Chevy.

Here's a place to start learning the differences between the 2-door sport coupe and the 2-door Custom Coupe.......

........and come back here often with your questions. Someone will jump in with help. And there are additional benefits if you become a VCCA member such as access to member's only forums here on Chevy Chatter and a great monthly magazine full of good stuff.

Good luck with your restoration.

The roof line and rear window was different on the two coupes.
The back glass on the Custom Coupe was the same as a Caprice coupe with the convex glass and was more verticle.
The Impala Coupe was a semi fast back.

I used the incorrect word to describe the curve of the Custom Coupe rear window. It is concave....when viewed from the rear is curves in in the center.

Thanks for the reply Chevy Nut. So any parts that will fit on the regular coupe will fit on the custom coupe other than what you mentioned?

My understanding of the difference between the two coupe designs is that the presence of a b pillar on the standard coupe and the lack of such on the sport/custom coupe. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but with the sport/custom coupes I recall the door window being "frameless", whereas on the standard couple the door windows were entirely framed. Not sure I'm articulating this right, but hope this somehow helps. I had a '68 sport sedan and a '70 custom coupe; both had frameless doors (very cool look!).

Both styles had no B pillar and frameless door glass. The quarter window was of different shapes.
There were no post 2 door models in 1971 in full sized cars.
