The hood hinges were some kind of a dull silver plating.

The hinges were zinc plated when new. It has been stated here that some will just paint a not too bright silver. That is what I did but was not happy with the results so I had mine plated. Anyway, silver-ish.

Nice looking engine compartment Russ. Is that battery disconnect what I call a blade type switch? I'm sure there is a good reason you have it on the negative cable. Care to share ??

Yes sir. I might add, For what-ever reason, it works very, very well. I was shocked when I tried it for the first time with the engine running to find their was zero static. I have heard so many horrid stories people tell about the static problems they encounter. Now if only I could find a decent AM station. But then again, the faint hum of the 216 and the wind through windows is music to my ears. Agrin

Dick, rather than start a fire-storm of controversial discussion, I suggest you Google, "How to install a battery cut-off switch", and go from there. It mainly depends on the manufacture of the switch. Happy reading.

There should be a condenser mounted to the zig-zag bracket on the coil. Screw hole is already there. Wire to coil terminal.

Russ nice detail!!!!

I myself had my hinges and hood locking mechanism zinc plated on my convertible like Russ. But there is an alterative solution, Eastwood sells paint that very closely matches zinc plating, bare casting finish and others various finishes. If your hood has never been taken off and is aligned up good you may not want to remove the hinges to have plated because realigning the hood is no easy task. Good luck!

Google Eastwood and search within their website for paint, its easy from there. all their paints are clearly identified.

That is the paint I used when I painted mine but, it is paint. I had all the pieces shown above plus the coil bracket and a few other small items plated for $120. That was 3 years ago. The same place I had the jack plated in the jack post thread.

I have used many, many Eastwood products and have been satisfied with everything. The only downside is $$$.

I could have sworn that a lengthy discussion about the color of the coil bracket determined it to be black???That's why I painted mine

The rocker arm cover acorn nuts and washers were painted as they were installed before the engine was painted at the factory.
