I see in the Des Moines Register there is the Grant J. Quam auction at Boone Ia. Quite a few odd and wonderful cars including a 34 Chevrolet Master Phaeton in yellow with red wheels and fender skirts??. The auction is being held with the vanderbrinkauctions.com from Minnesota. The skirts have 3 ribs with short one on bottom and the next 2 a bit longer above the short one. Interesting auction for sure.

Jim.

The fender skirts were only available with the master series starting in 1934 the first year of the option. Those skirts sell for $1500 a pair on ebay in nice or restored shape.

Be interesting for you to repost the result of the selling price of the 34 master phaeton. Its more common to see the standard series appear for sale on ebay. Been quite a while since a master phaeton appeared on ebay.

I saw one in western NY state back in the 80's, had every option you can name : driving lights, rad ornament, bumper guards, dual side mounts, potter type trunk on the rear, luggage rack , sport light, dual rear tail lights, cigar lighter, electric rear view clock mirror, radio. And probably a few more.

Thanks for the update Mike.

Besides the 34, there is a 51 Fleetline, and looks like 2 33 Chevys, both 4 door models, one of them with number 3749858 (must be engine no) and the other number 1GA0862228.

Son-in-law wants to go, may also go as auction is only about 30-40 miles from me. Either way, will try to get sale prices and post them here.

Jim.

Interesting history. Thank you for that. Maybe someday (if I live long enough) I might find a real gem here in Ia.

In the Canadian GM production figures I have for 1934 master series, it only shows us producing 2 chassis "(phaeton chassis) ", no Chevrolet model 151 bodies to go with it.

Another interesting fact to go with conversation was 1933 Chevrolet phaeton , HOLDEN Australia built a number of STANDARD SERIES CC , phaeton bodies, something not available in north America. Glen Rarick in lafargeville NY has one.

I imagine holden GM Australia also built 1933 Chevrolet standard series roadsters another item not available here. Anybody know if they did produce std series roadsters ??????

The 34 Plymouth was also said to be a Holden body

I would take the story that the 1934 Master Tourer was 1 of four assembled at the 1934 Worlds Fair with a very large grain of salt.

I thought all of the 1933's built in Chicago were 4 door sedans. Not sure why they would have Holden bodies being shipped to Chicago for this, when there's a Chevrolet plant building American bodies a lot closer.

Those accustomed to the finest...find it in Chevrolet.

I believe each car had a plaque on the dash that was assembled there.

The only body that I am aware of that was shipped to the USA in those days was a 1935 Sloper Coupe body. In the early 1970s American enthusiasts became aware of the Tourer style body being available in Australia and between 1972 and 1980 a lot of these bodies were imported into the USA.There is no doubt in my mind that this car was one of them. That they were imported for the Worlds Fair is just a fanciful dream.

According to another thread in the 33---36 section, which I reposted to yesterday, I had contacted Glen Rarick and he confirmed he had restored a 33 chev standard phaeton/touring from Australia.
