has anyone out there actually know of a source, perhaps one that they have ordered from themselves, for a stock camshaft and new solid lifters for a 235...? Or, a replacement hydraulic cam and lifters, as close to stock as possible?

O.K....this may sound dumb, but why can't I switch out to a hydraulic cam instead of using
the solid lifter cam....convenience and ease of
maintainence is my goal as it is my only mode of transportation which I drive 20,000 mi. a year...

Switching to a hydraulic cam grind and replaceing solid lifters with hydraulic lifters depends on the way the oiling system is drilled in order that oil is supplyed to the lifters, Some later 235s could be used either way, while other 235 truck engines could not be changed over to hydraulic lifters, check with the man over at Stovebolt Engine Company (Troy) or (Patrick) at Patricks in Arizona, for information on your particular engine. They both have internet web sites. The engine number and block casting numbers should tell the tale.

If its a pre 1958 engine and has solid lifters it can not be converted to hydralics. There is no oil passage to feed the lifters.

If its a pre 1954 block it has the small cam journals and the correct cam must be used.

1954 and up have larger cam journals.
