I was wondering if anyone can tell me if 47's had parking lights in the front. Was at a national show recently and was docked a few points as they said the parking lights did not work. More curious than anything. Thank You

I should have phrased it differently. Did they have it set up in 47 where just the front parking lights & tail lights would be on when you pull the light switch on one notch and no headlights on?

When I pull the switch out one notch and get dsash lights only I do not have parking lights on the front blinkers. But they are on when switch pulled out all the way.

Maybe the parking light wire is on the wrong terminal on the light switch?????? Or, are they connected correctly on the junction block on the inner finder???? Just my thoughts. crazy

All the answers to your query are right on.

Russell's comment should be helpful. You said "blinkers" so maybe you have the turn signals mixed up with something and the parking lights are without power when the switch is one notch out?

Good luck with it.

I would agree that the problem would be at the switch...Are you using directional signals???

Unless there is a short somewhere, for whatever reason the front park light wire has been disconnected from its terminal on the headlight switch and connected to the headlight circuit.

I double checked the running lights today and they are working. At a Nationalshow recently they said they did not work which I think was wrong on their part. I do have a problem for some time now where the left front blinker/ running light is not as bright as the right side. have checked thebulbs and etc and the grounds but cannot seem to fine the problem. Anu ideas???

Which filament on the bulb is blinking, the long one or the short one?
If the long filament is, the pig tail wires are reversed.

As shown in the link above, first notch brings on the front parking lights and taillights. Back in the day, when folks parked at the curb at night, while visiting friends, etc., they did turn on the "parking lights" to make the car visible at night, especially on non lit or poorly lit streets.

Second notch on the switch turned on the headlamps, but also turned "off" the front parking lights.

The term " running lights", as we know it today, had no connection with the 1947 Chevy.
