The bottom hinge on my 30 SC passenger door has loose screws. Now in taking a good look I find that the hinge is held on by 3 bolts not screws. It appears that the holes were drilled out and replace with bolts. On the drivers side there are screws an what looks like a added block of wood and no screws showing. Should I replace the bolts with screws and the additional piece of wood or leave it with the bolts. I have the Fischer body manual but could not find anything in it that sheds any light on the screw verses bolt
Off on a different subject does anyone have a clue as to why they had so many color combinations. Did you pick what you wanted when you placed the order for your car

If the door pillar wood is still solid, you can make a metal plate with holes for the hinge bolts. Screw the metal plate to the back of the wood door pillar and then bolt the hinge thru the wood pillar to the metal plate with a flat washer, lock washer and nut. On the color combinations, it is just the same today.....folks like to have different color choices available.

If wood is still solid, drill 1/4" holes straight through, use 1/4" machine screws with oversize washers and lock nuts. Should not need a plate back there unless wood is very weak. Some of the nuts wind up very close to the cowl sheetmetal, so you may want to leave those as woodscrews if wood is sound, but you should be able to get a nut on all of them. I did this when I remade my Coach's front door posts, no chance of wood screws pulling out!
