i just posted pics of my freewheeling lever and my engine casting number in the members photo area. Does anyone have any explanation for why my 31 might have freewheeling? It's a mystery to me. I don't think I have a 31 body on a 32 chassis considering my engine casting number indicates a 31.

The photos and numbers you posted elsewhere sure look like an overdrive unit has been installed.

I posted the pics in the members photo area, but the engine casting numbers are:
836409
E 21 1
Bow tie logo 27XX
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Your numbers indicate that you have a 1931 engine but the first year for Freewheeling was 1932. The last year for Freewheeling was 1933.
