Does anyone have any tips on removing the stainless steel windshield trim on a 1940 Special Deluxe. I want to remove it prior to painting, if possible, but it seems to really like it where it sits. I don't want to bend it or othwerwise mess it up trying to remove it. Thanks.

If it is in good shape I would just mask it off and don't risk damaging it. They are really tight and hard to find replacements. If the center divider (the part that is welded to the roof and the cowl)is rusted out, you may have to go ahead and remove the trim in order to weld in a new piece. It is common for that piece to be rusted away.

The stainless windshield trim on 1940 Special Deluxe models does not come off easily. I agree. tape it off carefully and paint the car.
